Skippers Dance Team 2020-21 Preview

The newly formed Skippers Dance team is now entering its second season. Last year, the team's season was cut short, and though they qualified, they didn't get to compete at Dance Worlds. Despite the unexpected pandemic shutdown, the Dance Worlds comittee made predictions and the Skippers Dance team tied for fifth by the judges. They have been working hard to get back there again this spring.

Returning team members are Emma Huston, Brynn McGregor and Jamie Rich. Completing the 9-team member roster are Nalani Broderick, Alivia Dunn, Averie Dunn, Maddy Hemby, Autumn Nay and Morgan Smith.

Despite shutdowns, the team has been working hard during the up-times to prepare for the 2021 season competitions and SC4 basketball half-time performances. The Skippers Dance Team is scheduled to compete in the All-star pom, jazz and hip hop divisions at Dance Super Nationals February 12-14th in Louisville, Kentucky. They will then compete March 6th at the GLCC Showdown in Schaumburg, Illinois and March 12- 14 at the CSG Team Champion Nationals in Davenport, Iowa.

At all of these National competitions, the team will compete against teams from across the country in hopes to receive by-invitation-only bids to compete at the largest international dance competition, Dance Worlds, at Walt Disneyworld May 6-7th, 2021.

Coach Laurie Charron is excited to get going and back to competeing, and to continue to grow the team this year and years to come. To learn more about joining the Skippers Dance Team, reach out to the athletic department or Coach Charron.
