Skippers 2020-21 Men's and Women's Bowling Team Preview

After a successful 2019-20 bowling season, the Skippers teams head back to lanes looking for repeat appearances at the NJCAA Bowling National Championship tournament. With COVID-19 effecting a portion of their practice season that normally begins in October, the Skippers are eager to get back to practice for the upcoming season.

Key bowlers returning for the men's team are Jose Ganhs, Ian Conley and Jared McCormick, who were all part of the team that finished sixth last season at the NJCAA Men's Bowling National Championship tournament.  Jose just missed making All-American, finishing 9th out of 120 bowlers.

Two newcomers for the men come from Oxford High School.  Zach Barrows and Luke Acton helped their school to a regional championship during their senior season. The SC4 men's team is hoping for a repeat of last year – qualifying for and competing hard at the NJCAA Men's Bowling National Championship in April. women's bowling

Key bowlers returning for the women are Jessica Badley and Brook Bauman.  Badley qualified for nationals last season and finished 37th out of 94 bowlers at the NJCAA Women's Bowling National Championship tournament.  Bauman just missed qualifying for nationals, but was phenomenal during the year, often leading the team during regular season tournaments. Other leading returners for the women's team are Allison Schlaack and Mave Warren

The top newcomer for the women is Katelyn Heiden who arrives with considerable past success at Croswell Lexington High School.  In her senior season, she finished second at her regional tournament and then 33rd in the state tournament. Rounding out the women's roster are other newcomers Megan Farley and Brooke Goolsby. The women's team is looking to score some team wins this season, beginning in February.

Head Coach Scott Badley is looking forward to a successful season and getting back to practice. "Both the men's and women's teams have outstanding chances of winning tournaments this season and then making the national tournament and competing for a top five finish.  There are legitimately at least three bowlers on both teams that have the capability to earn All-American honors," said Badley.
