Tom Colwell

Tom Colwell

Tom Colwell is in his first season as head coach of the Skippers in 2024-25.

Colwell brings over 2 decades of wheelchair basketball coaching and officiating experience to the SC4 wheelchair basketball program.

Most recently he was an assistant coach at the Paralympic Games in London earning a bronze medal. He was also an assistant coach on the 2011 Parapan Games team that earned gold in Guadalajara, the 2010 bronze winning team at the London World Cup, and the 2009 team that took home the gold in the America’s Cup in Vancouver. Colwell also spent some time coaching club and junior teams where he won two Junior National Championships, as well as numerous bronze, silver, and gold medals in international junior and club events.

Tom earned a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater where he was also a graduate assistant for the wheelchair basketball team during a stretch of three consecutive national championships. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
