Men's Basketball: Seven Skippers Named to All-MCCAA Teams

PORT HURON, MI – The St. Clair County Community College men's basketball team had seven players earn spots on the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) All-Conference teams. Tyler Hamilton earned All-MCCAA, First Team All-MCCAA Eastern Conference, and MCCAA All-Defensive Team honors. Isaiah Jones was named to the Second Team All-MCCAA Eastern Conference and the MCCAA Eastern Conference All-Defensive Team. Sophomores Daquan Coleman and Zaveon Little earned Third Team All-MCCAA honors while Omari Byrd, La'Tavius Vaughter, and Zahki Fallen made honorable mention. Zahki was also named to the MCCAA Eastern Conference All-Freshman Team.

Tyler Hamilton was the Skippers go to guy this year, starting in 30 games. His 18 points per game, which was good enough for 3rd in the conference, 5.8 assists per game, which was 2nd in the conference,  and 1.6 steals per game all led the team. Tyler was also good for nearly 4.5 rebounds per game. He shot 45% from the field, 41.4% from behind the arc, and 82% from the charity stripe to put together a really impressive season.

Isaiah Jones was a force on both ends of the court. He started 27 of the 29 games he played. Offensively he averaged 15.7 points on 45.9% from the floor and almost 75% from the line. Defensively he averaged 1 steal a game and over 1.5 blocks a number good enough for 3rd best in the conference. He also added in 7.3 boards a game to the Skippers effort.

Daquan Coleman put together a really nice season for SC4, starting 30 games. He was huge from the 3-point line averaging over 2 makes a game shooting at a 42% clip, the 2nd best mark in the conference. He averaged 11.2 points and made 42.8% of his total shots and over 85% of his free throws. He also chipped in nearly 2 assists and just over 3 rebounds a game.

Zaveon Little contributed to the Skippers success this season in a multitude of ways. He started all 31 games and averaged 13.6 points while shooting 44.8% overall and 35% from three and 86% from the foul line. He also averaged a conference high 9.5 rebounds a game and added nearly a block and a steal per game as well.

Omari Byrd was a testament to the depth of SC4 this season. He started just 4 games this season but found a way to make major impacts on the game. He scored 3 points a game on an impressive 61% shooting. He also averaged almost 4 boards and 1.5 blocks a game.

La'Tavius Vaughter started 27 of the 28 games he played in and was a defensive anchor in the paint. LT averaged over 2.5 blocks per contest which was 2nd in the state. He also scored almost 10 points a game on 54% shooting, and pulled down 5.5 rebounds.

Zahki Fallen had a big freshman season. He played in all 31 games and averaged over 7.5 points a game on 41.1% shooting from the floor and 42.9% from behind the arc which led the conference. Zahki also made 95% of his foul shots. He averaged 2.2 assists a game as well.
