SC4 picks up first win in school history

Marysville, MI – The Skippers hosted a double header against Grand Rapids Community College on Tuesday (Sept. 3). The men started at 1:00 PM and the women kicked off at 3:00 PM. The Skippers came into this game 0-0-1 after playing Rochester Christian University to a tie on Saturday.

The Raiders got things going first with a goal in the 19th minute of the game. They would hold SC4 scoreless in the first half. Shortly after the break the Skippers found the back of the net when Shuya Kato assisted on a Moursali Abdou goal to even the score at one. It would remain that way until the 89th minute of the game when Gabriele Catterina scored the game winning goal! He was assisted by Javier Garcia Tunon PerezThe Skippers would hang on the 45 seconds to win 2-1!

After allowing an early goal, Jaden Gil shut the door, finishing with 4 saves. Javier Garcia Tunon Perez took 4 shots, one of the on goal, and assisted the game winning goal while Moursali Abdou took 5 shots and scored 1 goal. Gabriele Catterina scored the game winning goal, firing 2 shots on goal and Shuya Kato got a shot on target and had an assist. Gabriel Raji, Dalton Siewertsen, and Renato Katrip all got a shot up.

This win marks the first win in school history as well as head coach Brian Alumbaugh's first career win. The Skippers will travel to Marian University's Ancilla College on Saturday for a 3:00 PM game.
