Skippers get Swept on Opening Day

It was a difficult start to the 2022 season today for the Skippers (0-2) as they got swept in a two-game series with the Pioneers of Volunteer State Community College (11-5). 

Game 1: SC4 1 - Pioneers 11

Inside the Numbers:

  • On the mound for the Skippers were Margaret Etue (0-1) and Emily Tackaberry 
  • Pitching for the Pioneers was Sidney Link, she allowed only one hit and one run while striking out 11 players and walking one. 
  • Skippers one hit and one run came from Miranda McNaughton with her home run in the fifth inning.
  • The Volunteers racked up 11 hits in the game from Kemiah Michel, Vanessa Westfall, Gabi Apiag, Sydney Williams, A'Niya Boone and Sydney Harris

Game 2: SC4 2 - Pioneers 10 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Pitching for SC4 this game was Meriah Mason (0-1) and Kenadee Amshay 
  • Mason gave up 7 hits, 6 runs, 1 home run, and made 6 earned runs.
  • Amshay pitched for 1 inning giving up 3 hits, 4 runs, 1 home run and made 3 earned runs.
  • The winning pitcher was given to the Vols Alyssa Costley (3-1) 
  • Abigail Thibodeau and Miranda McNaughton both earned themselves 1 run each. 

 

Next Up: The Skippers will take on the Pioneers of Volunteer State Community College again on Friday, March 11 for a 2 game series starting at 12 pm.
