Softball: SC4 Drops a Game to Lackawanna College

Myrtle Beach, SC - The Skippers started their week in Myrtle Beach by playing a game against Lackawanna College on Monday (March 4th).

The Skippers gave up 8 runs through the first two innings without having an answer in the batter's box. They attempted to crawl back in the fifth and they managed to rack up 2 runs, but the deficit was too large. Kalei Pegg went 2 for 2 in the box scoring the Skipper's first run in the fifth making it home on a passed ball. Sarah Fantin also had a nice game going 2 for 4 with a single in the third and the fifth. Brandi Bassett worked her way into scoring position for the Skipper's second run by stealing second and advancing to third on a passed ball.

On the mound, Kaylie Rickert started the game and pitched 4.2 innings, giving up 8 runs (only 4 earned) on 10 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. MaKynna Saltzmann came in to finish the last 1.1 innings, allowing 0 hits and 0 runs. Defensively, Isabella Pesina, Sarah Fantin, and Natalie Sauer had a double play in the second inning going 6-4-3.

The Skippers have another 6 games in Myrtle Beach facing Delta College later today as well as Monroe and Southeastern on Tuesday, March 5th.
