
PORT HURON, MI – The St. Clair County Community College softball team had seven players earn spots on the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) All-Conference teams. Sophomore Sarah Fantin earned All-MCCAA and First Team All-MCCAA Eastern Conference honors. Outfielder Natalie Sauer joined her on the All-MCCAA Team and First team All-MCCAA Eastern Conference, she was also named to the MCCAA Eastern Conference All-Freshman Team. Natalie Douglas and Alexis Perrin were both named Second Team All-MCCAA Eastern Conference while Brandi Bassett, MaKynna Saltzman, and Carley Kalbfleisch all earned honorable mention.
Sarah Fantin is a back-to-back first team member, earning the same honors as a freshman. Just like her freshman season she led the Skippers offensive attack. Fantin hit .431 with a .447 OPB and .606 slugging percentage. She scored 39 runs while collecting a team high 59 hits,19 of which were extra base hits, including 2 home runs. Sarah also drove home 19 runs while stealing 13 bases and striking out just 4 times.
Natalie Sauer made her presence felt as a freshman. Her .451 batting average, .500 OBP, and .846 slugging percentage all paced the Skippers. And her batting average was top of the eastern conference. She also tallied 31 runs, 41 hits, and 20 extra base hits, including 6 home runs, in just 91 at bats. The 35 runs she batted in were also a team high.
Natalie Douglas earned second team honors after a big sophomore season. She had a slash line of .361/.439/.672 to go along with 44 hits and a team leading 8 home runs. She also knocked in 32 runs and scored 34 herself all while drawing a team high 16 walks.
Alexis Perrin made an impact both at the plate and behind the plate. She played in every game but one and hit .404 on the season with a .456 OBP and .639 slugging percentage. Perrin scored 38 runs while knocking in 23 on 58 hits including 19 extra base hits, 7 of which were home runs. She was also a wall behind the plate, compiling a team high .977 fielding percentage in 131 total chances.
Brandi Bassett is the Skippers second repeat award winner, earning honorable mention as a freshman as well. As a hitter she hit for a .359 average while getting on base at a .404 clip and slugging .519. She collected 47 hits including 13 doubles, 1 triple, and 2 home runs while scoring 24 runs and knocking in 20 more. In the pitcher's circle Bassett made 21 appearances with 13 starts. She threw 78.1 innings and struck out 33, also collecting 2 saves. Brandi also boasted a .962 fielding percentage.
MaKynna Saltzman also had an impressive two-way season as a freshman. She collected a slash line of .343/.362/.490 which included scoring 23 runs and hitting in another 27. Saltzman had 49 hits on the season which included 9 doubles, 3 triples, and 2 home runs. As a pitcher she made 21 appearances, throwing 65.1 innings and striking out 23 hitters.
Carley Kalbfleisch is the fourth SC4 freshman to make one of the All-MCCAA teams. Carley hit .352 while slugging .556. She had 12 extra base hits including 4 home runs while knocking in 21 runs. Kalbfleisch also scored 19 runs on 38 total hits.
