Women's Basketball: SC4 Named Conference Champions

Port Huron, MI – The Skippers women's basketball team claimed the 2023-24 MCCAA Eastern Conference Championship on Tuesday (Feb. 27) night after a victory over Schoolcraft College.

SC4 has had a successful year after head coach Mike Groulx first year back at the helm. They finished the regular season with a 23-3 overall record and a 10-2 record in the eastern conference.

The Skippers dropped the very first game of the season before starting a 15-game win streak that ended with their first conference loss at Jackson College. They bounced back starting a 6-game win streak before being given their second conference blemish at the hands of Macomb Community College. Following that loss, they won their last two conference games to claim the championship.

This is women's basketball's first conference championship since the 2014-15 season.

With the conference championship, the Skippers have qualified for the MCCAA State Championship along with Southwest Michigan College and Mid-Michigan College, the winners of the western and northern conferences respectively. The tournament will be hosted at Mott Community College. SC4 has also earned a first round bye in the NJCAA Great Lakes District B Championship!

Their next game will be a part of that MCCAA State Championship against Southwest Michigan College at 5:30 PM on Friday, March 1st. If they win that game, they'll play Mid-Michigan on Saturday (March 2) at 5:30 PM at Mott CC in the championship game.
