Skippers Take Down School Records at Season Opener

University Center, MI - The men's and women's track teams kicked off their inaugural indoor track season at the SVSU Classic hosted by Saginaw Valley State University. The event took place at SVSU's 300m indoor track at the Ryder Center. The Skipper's started the season off on the right foot, posting several school records. Previous school records were set by the school's preceding club team.

Oliva Crawford was the first to toe the line, competing in the women's mile. Crawford gave herself a decent start to the season, clocking a 6:21.68, taking 11th in her heat and placing 30th overall. Laela Bhatti spiked up for the women's 400m, taking 4th in her heat and placing 21st overall. Bhatti ran a 7 second personal best in 1:09.59, becoming the #2 Skipper in the event.

Both the men's and women's teams travel to Hillsdale next week, Saturday, January 25th for an early NJCAA Region XII Championship.
