
Rockford, IL – The Skippers opened day two of the Opening Weekend Tournament with an 8:00 AM game against Florida State College at Jacksonville, they also took on Morton College at 2:15 before heading back to Michigan.
SC4 jumped on the Manta Rays early winning the first set 25-11. That would set the tone for the rest of the match as the Skippers won the next two sets (25-20, 25-15) and cruised to an easy 3-0 win. Sophomore Piper Clark continued her dominance with 13 kills, 13 assists, 3 aces, and 11 digs. Megan DeSantis added 10 kills, 4 assists, 3 aces, and 5 digs. Riley Robertson led the team with 19 assists and 14 digs.
Game two was a similar story. The Panthers would pick u set one (26-24) but then drop the next three (25-21, 25-11, 25-21) to lose to the Skippers 3-1). Once again Piper Clark led the charge with a team high 22 assists to go along with 10 kills, 3 aces, and 11 digs. Gabby Martinez led the team with 11 kills, and Riley Robertson paced the Skippers with 17 digs.
The Skippers will travel back home and host a quad match on Wednesday, September 28. The first game will be at 4:00 PM against Lake Michigan College.
