Port Huron, MI – The Skippers hosted the second of three quads on Saturday (Sept. 14). Games kicked off at 11:00 AM and included Bay College, Delta College, Kellogg Community College, St. Clair College, Oakland Community College, North Central Michigan College (NCMC), and the Skippers.
SC4 started the day with the NCMC Timberwolves. They got off to a slow start losing set one 25-14 but bounced back to take set two 25-16. After that it was Timberwolves as they cruised to a 3-1 victory taking the last two sets 25-15 and 25-19. Ella Jacobs and Breanna Gentner led the way with 10 kills each for the Skippers, while Madison Melczarczyk dished out 34 assists for the game. Isabella Oleson served up 6 aces and freshman libero Riley Robertson finished with a team high 13 digs.
The Skippers second match of the day was against St. Clair College. They started on the right foot picking up set two 25-22. Unfortunately, that's all they would get, losing the next three sets close (25-19, 25-22, 25-20) to drop the match 3-1. Freshman Gabby Martinez kept SC4 in the game with her 11 kills, while Ella Jacobs added 9. Madison Melczarczyk was good for 28 assists during the match. Isabella Oleson led the team with 5 aces and Megan DeSantis contributed defensively with 9 digs.
The Skippers will travel to Schoolcraft College for a 7:00 PM start to kick off conference play on Monday (Sept. 16).
