Skipper's Athletics Adds Wheelchair Basketball

St. Clair County Community College is proud to announce the launch of an all-new wheelchair basketball team starting this fall. This will potentially be the first time ever that a community college will have an adaptive sports team, making the launch of this new wheelchair basketball team at SC4 a significant step forward in creating a more inclusive and diverse campus community. Starting a wheelchair basketball team at SC4 has been a goal ever since Skipper Athletics hosted the Wolverine Invitational with the University of Michigan, and now through the passion of the administration and faculty, with the support of the University of Michigan wheelchair basketball team, it is soon to be a reality.

The introduction of a wheelchair basketball team at SC4 can provide numerous benefits for both the individual team members and the campus community as a whole. The team will consist of individuals with disabilities, as well as able-bodied participants who are passionate about wheelchair basketball making for an all-inclusive experience. The development of this team makes it possible for individuals with disabilities to participate in a sport they enjoy, while also promoting inclusivity and diversity on campus. The team is excited to get started, and they are looking forward to a successful and rewarding season ahead.

Recruiting for the team is currently underway, and if you're interested in joining or have questions about SC4's Wheelchair Basketball team reach out to mjwhittredge@sc4.edu
