All Dr. Gwen Kollmorgan did during her time at SC4 was win! She was a part of back-to-back MCCAA Eastern Conference Championship teams in 1991-92 and 1992-93. During that stretch, her teams suffered only two conference losses. She helped build a foundation that would lead to the Skippers winning seven straight conference titles.

Dr. Kollmorgan was a big part of the success for those teams, earning MCCAA All-State Team honors in both her freshman and sophomore years.

Gwen recalled, “When I look back at my time as a Skipper, I remember Coach Jackson, my teammates, and the successes we had together”. However, Dr. Kollmorgan shared that the highlight of her time at SC4 was “being able to play close enough to home that her family and friends could watch her play.”

The Kollmorgan sisters are hall of famers who made a significant impact on Skippers women’s basketball history. Following an outstanding career from 1993-95, her sister Alicia was inducted into the SC4 Hall of Fame in 2017 as a member of the 1994-95 Skippers team that took 2nd in America, and again as an individual in 2019. Her other sister Georgette, was inducted as a member of the 1996-97 Women’s Basketball team.

Following her time at SC4, Gwen attended the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Upon the completion of her bachelor’s degree, she worked at the Harvard associated Joslyn Diabetes Center in Boston where she met her husband. She later moved to Germany where she learned the language and completed a master’s and doctorate degree in biology at the University of Hamburg. She now works for Roche Diagnostics where she manages diagnostic clinical trials for neurodegenerative diseases.
