As a hitter, Thompson compiled a .355 average with a .435 on base percentage and .497 slugging percentage. She was dependable on the mound. too, racking up a 19-8 record in 27 starts. For her career she had an ERA of just 2.94, including 113 strikeouts in 197 and 1/3 innings pitched.
The Richmond High School grad captured All-MCCAA Eastern Conference Honorable Mention as a freshman and Second Team honors as a sophomore.
After two seasons at SC4 Riley transferred to Cleary University where she continued to dominate on the field. Thompson was named First Team All-American and Player of the Year in 2018, the same season she helped lead the softball team to a USCAA National Championship.
“My favorite memories were the lifelong friendships I made at SC4,” Riley said. “I enjoyed playing at Pine Grove Park, I remember we used to watch for the freighters and yell ‘freighter’ every time one went by.”
Riley lives in south Florida. Following her time with the Skippers she earned a master’s degree in psychology and works for a psychiatric SPECT imaging clinic that provides diagnosis and treats mental illness.
