Skippers Win Streak Continues, beating Lumberjacks 101-85

The #17 ranked SC4 Men's basketball team was able to earn their 8th consecutive win on Friday as they beat Alpena Community College by a final of 101-85. The Skippers started strong in the first half and held off the Lumberjacks to come away with the win on their homecourt. The defense played a big role in the win as they forced 26 Lumberjack turnovers. A large number of those turnovers came off steals by the Skipper defense as they finished with 18 steals.

Leading the pack was sophomore Caron Clayton as he was able to force 6 steals on the night to go with 15 points. Clayton's backcourt counterpart, Jakylen Thomas was second on the team in steals with 5. Thomas also chipped in 21 points for the Skippers which was a team high. Kelvin Balfour recorded a double-double as he scored 11 points and hauled in 11 rebounds. Belfour also contributed on the defensive end as he blocked a shot and had 3 steals. Tyler Hamilton provided an-offensive spark off the bench, finishing the game with 20 points.

The Skippers will be back in action tomorrow at the Fieldhouse when they take on the Lakers of Mid Michigan College. Tip-off is slated for 5 PM, following the Women's matchup with Mid Michigan College.
