Men's Basketball Topples #1 Team, Goes 2-0 In Skippers Classic

Port Huron, MI – The Skippers Men's basketball team went 2-0 during the Skippers Classic including a win over the number one team in the country!

These two wins push them to 2-2 as they worked to rebound from 2 early losses.

The men's side of the event included Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), Lakeland Community College, Marian University Ancilla, and SC4.

SC4 opened the event on Friday (Nov. 17) against the reigning national champions and top ranked Milwaukee Area Tech Stormers. They relied on their defense, holding MATC under 90 points for the first time this season to come away with a 92-86 victory. Daquan Coleman poured in a career high 23 points to lead all scorers. Tyler Hamilton also added 18 to the effort while La'Tavius Vaughter and Zahki Fallen were good for 15 and 14 points respectively. Zahki also added in 6 assists to pace the Skippers.

On Saturday (Nov. 18) the Skippers continued their momentum and handled Marian University Ancilla 60-41. Similar story as they a strong defensive effort to hold Ancilla to just 41 points and just 35.4% from the field and 11.1% from three. Once again Daquan Coleman led all scorers tallying 12 points. Tyler Hamilton added in 10 points and 6 assists and Isaiah Jones scored 11 off the bench.

The Skippers will travel to Muskegon to take on the Jayhawks Tuesday Nov. 21. Their next home game is Friday Dec. 1 at 8:00 pm vs. Alpena CC.
