Men's Basketball: Skippers Down Both Opponents In New Years Classic

Port Huron, MI – The Skippers Men's basketball team came into the Skippers New Years Classic looking to start 2024 off on the right note. They did just that winning both games during the weekend event.

The event included Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Macomb County Community College, Muskegon Community College, and St. Clair County Community College.

The Skippers opened the event on Friday (Jan. 5) taking care of the 19th ranked cougars of Kalamazoo Valley Community College. They got off to a quick start, leading 44-24 at halftime and used that lead to win 89-74. Zaveon Little paced all scorers with 19 points while also pulling down 9 rebounds. Tyler Hamilton was good for 18 points. Off the Bench Zahki Fallen dumped in 16. Isaiah Jones and Omari Byrd contributed 9 rebounds to the effort.

On Saturday (Jan. 6) SC4 took down Muskegon Community College 79-65. The Skippers jumped out to a 44-24 halftime lead in route to the victory. Tyler Hamilton scored 16 points while pulling down 9 rebounds. Daquan Coleman added in 14 points and Zahki Fallen dumped in 10 more.

These two wins move the Skippers to 11-3 at the end of their non-conference schedule.

The Skippers will take the court again on Saturday January 13th, when they take on Mott Community College in Flint at 1:00 pm. Their next home game is Wednesday January 17th at 5:30 pm when Oakland Community College comes to town.
