Men's Basketball: SC4 finishes 8th in the Country!

Danville, IL – The Skippers were in Danville Illinois playing in the 7th place game at the NJCAA National Tournament. They took a familiar face in the 4th seeded Macomb Monarchs in what was their third matchup up the season. This meeting was the rubber match as they split during the regular season.

The Skippers jumped out to a quick 15-6 lead before Macomb woke up and ended up taking a 25-24 lead. SC4 took a 46-44 deficit into the halftime break. The second half was a back-and-forth affair until about the 9-minute mark when Macomb began to open up their lead. It would ultimately end as a 94-84 loss for the Skippers.

It was a big game for sophomore Tyler Hamilton who scored a game high 30 points with 6 assists. Zaveon Little scored 15 while Daquan Coleman added 11. La'Tavius Vaughter scored 10. Isaiah Jones led the team with 8 rebounds.

With the loss the Skippers have ended their national tournament run with a 2-2 record which is good enough for an 8th place finish in the country! This ties the 2009-10 team for the highest finish for the men's basketball team in SC4 history.

The team was awarded the Fred Pohlman Sportamanship Award for the tournament. This award is given to the team that best displays the sportsmanship expected of student athletes at the national tournament.

Congratulations on a great season!
