Softball: SC4 Picks Up Their First Win of the Season

Myrtle Beach, SC - The Skippers finished their first day in South Carolina taking on Delta College on Monday (March 4th) walking away with their first win of the young season.

Delta opened the scoring by putting up one run in the first but the Skippers matched it in the bottom of the second. They tacked on two more in the 4th and dealt the final blow with four runs in the 6th. Delta fought to come back but was only able to put up 5 runs in the end leading to a 7-5 Skippers win. Natalie Sauer had a great game going 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and 3 total RBIs. Kalei Pegg went 2-2 with 2 doubles while Avery Pegg knocked in 2 more runs.

MaKynna Saltzman went the distance for the Skippers, facing 33 batters. She gave up 8 hits, 5 runs, and 4 walks while also throwing 2 strikeouts. The Skipper's defense had a double play from Isabella Pesina, Sarah Fantin, and Brandi Bassett going 4-6-3.

The Skippers will continue to play in South Carolina on Tuesday, March 5th against Monroe Community College and Southeastern Community College-Whiteville.
