Softball: The Skippers Sweep the Hawks

Taylor, MI - The Skippers traveled to played a double header at Henry Ford College on Monday (March 25).

Game 1 started with a 3 run top of the first for the Skippers. Henry Ford would get one back in the bottom of the third before SC4 added 4 more in the top of the fourth. The Skippers would add another 4 runs in the top of the seventh and give up 2 in the bottom of the inning. Game 1 would ultimately end in an 11-3 SC4 victory.

Alexis Perrin was the star of the game with 3 hits including a double and a home run! She also added in 3 runs, 3 hits, and 3 RBIs. Natalie Sauer got in on the fun as well collecting 2 hits, including a double, scoring 2 runs, and knocking in 3 more. Avery Pegg also added in a double and a solo home run!

Kaylie Rickert started and pitched a gem. She went the distance and gave up just 4 hits and 0 earned runs while striking out 6.

Game 2 started off a little bit slower. Both teams scored a run in the first inning. The Skippers would get the scoring started in the top of the fourth when they hung 2 on the board, but Henry Ford quickly responded scoring 3 of their own in the home portion of the fourth. The back and forth continued as SC4 responded with 3 in the top of the fifth. The Hawks were shut out for the remainder of the game but the Skippers added 4 insurance runs in the seventh inning. Natalie Douglas led the offensive effort connecting on 2 homeruns and hitting a double. For the game she had 3 hits, scored 3 runs, and batted in 4 runs. Isabella Pesina collected a double and a triple and 2 RBIs. Natalie Sauer and Alexis Perrin both added in 2 hits including a double each.

MaKynna Saltzman did her best to match Rickert's performance in game one. She picked up the win and went the full seven innings giving up 3 earned runs on 5 hits, 4 walks and struck out 3.

These two wins push their record to 8-10 on the seaosn and 3-1 within the confernece. It also opens up a 3-game win streak!

The Skippers next game will be a home double header on Friday (March 29) against Schoolcraft College. Game one will start at 3:00 PM with game 2 following.
