Skippers take first loss of the season to Lakeland

Skippers women's basketball vs. Lakeland CC

SC4 found their first loss of the season to a hot Lakers team. It was a well fought game by both teams. Skippers found themselves in a hole early trailing 52-39 at the half. They never gave up as they fought back to take a 74-70 lead early in the 4th quarter. Then Lakeland shifted into third gear and went on a 17-4 run to seal the deal.

Seemed like everything was going in for the Lakers as they shot 64 percent from the field. Elisha Quin could not be contained as she popped off with 42 points for the Lake show. Your Skippers were able to spread around the rock more as they had 5 different players score double figures (Taylor, Lamontagne, Janssen, Smith, Nugent). Janae Smith led the Skips with 15 points shooting an efficient 5-8 from the field and 3-6 from downtown with a block. Emily Nugent did her part coming off the bench with 13 points going along with 4 offensive boards. Although the Skippers came up on the losing side of this game, it is still a very encouraging performance by your Skips. They never gave in, hustled relentlessly, and stayed together as a team. Those are key characteristics of a winning team. Although it didn't show in this performance, expect your Skippers to bounce back.

SC4 will travel to Albion this Wednesday November 17th. Tip off will be at 5:30 PM EST. Their next home game will be this Friday at 6PM. They will be hosting Kellogg CC who is 0-2 so far this season.
