Skippers #24 Dareonna Little dribbles by defender

An early defensive battle saw the Skippers score their first basket of the game off a Dareonna Little free throw midway through the 1st quarter. Little would go on to score the following four points, accounting for the first six points on the night for the Skippers.

The end of the first quarter saw the Skippers trailing the Pioneers by just four points. SC4 was held to just under 27% shooting from the field in the first half. At the half the leading scorer for SC4 was Dareonna Little who had ten points. Madelyn Smith provided a spark off the bench in the first half as she chipped in seven points and four rebounds. Kayla Rosen provided the Skippers with help on the glass as she brought in five first half rebounds. Karmyn Lowry's aggressive defense led to two first half steals for the freshman out of Detroit, Michigan.

The Skippers started the second half with multiple defensive stops in a row. Cutting the deficit to five before a Pioneer triple. Throughout the third quarter the Skippers looked like a new team. The main reason being their suffocating defense as great defensive plays created more scoring opportunities. The Skippers scored 22 points in the entire first half, they upped their scoring significantly as they scored 17 points in the third quarter alone.

The fourth quarter saw the Skippers gain their first lead since midway through the 1st quarter. The final quarter of regulation turned out to be a back and forth battle all the way to the end. Both teams had a chance to take the lead in the final seconds but were unable to convert. The game headed to overtime with the game tied at 58.

In overtime Arlonna Twitty provided four points, one rebound and one assist to keep the Skippers offense alive. Freshman standout, Dareonna Little fouled out with just under 30 seconds left with the game tied at 69. A late steal by Delta followed by a defensive foul committed by the Skippers gave the Pioneers a chance to take the lead in the closing seconds. Both free throws were made, and the Skippers were unable to convert on their final possession.

The leading scorer in the game was Little who finished her night with 24 points. She pulled in 9 rebounds in the second half to finish with 10 on the night, which gave her a double-double. Little also had two blocks and one steal to her credit. There were two other Skippers with double digit rebounds as Kayla Rossen and Madelyn Smith pulled in 10 and 11 rebounds respectively. Smith also recorded a double-double as she finished with 11 points on the night. Morgan McConnell sank a couple clutch threes to go with 3 steals on the night.

The Skippers will have just over a week to prepare for their next contest, as they head to Delta College for a matchup on November 30th.
