Women's Basketball Handles Business In Skippers Holiday Classic

Port Huron, MI – The Skippers Women's basketball team went pushed their winning streak to 6 games with two wins during the Skippers Holiday Classic!

The event included Erie Community College, Alpena Community College, Oakland Community College, and St. Clair County Community College.

SC4 opened the event on Friday (Dec. 1) taking on Region 12 foe Alpena Community College at 6:00 pm. They cruised past the Lumberjacks with a final score of 100-45.  Balanced scoring and defense were the key, turning Alpena over 42 times and finishing with five in double figures, including two over 20 points. Arlonna Twitty led the way finishing with 25 points and 4 steals. Karmyn Lowry was second in scoring for the game poring in 22 points while also dishing out 5 assists, pulling down 6 rebounds, and blocking 2 shots. Ava Grant was a spark off the bench scoring 16 points with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Others in double figures included Bailey Gormley (10 points) and Ashley Halligan (10 points). Amanda Kitchen led the Skippers with 6 rebounds.

On Saturday (Dec. 2) the Skippers continued their momentum and took down Erie Community College. The game was all Skippers as they finished with a commanding 82-29 victory. As has been the case this season, it was the defense that got the job done, holding Erie to just 29 points while forcing 39 turnovers. Once again Arlonna Twitty led all scorers with 18 also adding in 4 steals and 4 assists. Amanda Kitchen had a double-double off the bench scoring 15 and grabbing 12 rebounds. Rounding out the double-digit scorers were Ava Grant (13 points) and Ashley Halligan (12 points).

The Skippers will take the court again on Wednesday December 6th, when they take on Lansing Community College with a 5:30 tip at the SC4 Fieldhouse.
