Women's Basketball: Skippers Lose Heartbreaker at Jackson

Jackson, MI – The Skippers played the first of 3 straight road games on Saturday (Jan. 20) against the Jackson College Jets.

Jackson started the game hot, scoring 28 points in the first quarter and leading 28-13. They would take a 14-point lead into halftime. The Skippers figured it out in the second half, battling back and leading by as much as 7. SC4 would take a 2-point lead with 7 seconds left in regulation before Jackson came up with a lose ball and found a way to score as time expired. Overtime was competitive and once again came down to a couple of possessions under 10 seconds, but the Jets prevailed 69-67. Arlonna Twitty scored 18 points and led the Skippers with 7 rebounds. Karmyn Lowry also added in 18 with 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals. Madelyn Smith dumped in 14 points to go along with her outstanding defense. Bailey Gormley rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points.

This loss snaps a 15-game winning streak and drops the Skipper's record to 15-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

They will look to bounce back and start a new winning streak Wednesday, January 24 when they travel to Macomb Community College to take on the Monarchs at 5:30 PM. The next home game is Saturday, February 3 when Schoolcraft College comes to town. That will be a 1:00 PM start.
