Women's Basketball: Skippers Down Conference Leading Schoolcraft College

Port Huron, MI – The Skippers hosted Schoolcraft College (14-3 overall, 5-0 in conference) on Saturday (Feb. 3) playing for a tie for first place in the MCCAA Eastern Conference.

SC4 got off to a quick start leading 24-12 after the first quarter and taking a 46-23 lead into the break. The Ocelots battled back in the second half but the large halftime margin was ultimately too much to overcome and the Skippers prevailed 71-67.

SC4 shot the 3 pointer well, making 8 at a 42.1% clip and finished the game with 4 players in double figures. Sophomore Karmyn Lowry led all scorers with 20 points, 18 in the first half, along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Bailey Gormley followed with 16 points. Amanda Kitchen had a double-double scoring 10 and hauling in 13 rebounds to help out and Madelyn Smith scored 10 points as well.

With the win the Skippers moved to 18-2 overall with a 5-1 conference record. Exactly halfway through conference play they find themselves at the top of a three-way tie for first place of the MCCAA Eastern Conference.

SC4 will host Mott Community College this Wednesday (Feb. 7). The game will take place at the SC4 Fieldhouse and will tip off at 5:30 PM.
