Women's Basketball: Skippers Ground the Jets and Take Top Spot in the Conference

Port Huron, MI – SC4 hosted the Jackson College Jets for a Valentine's Day double header on Wednesday (Feb. 14) with the women's game tipping off at 5:30 PM.

The Skippers were the first on the board and after that moment they never looked back. They got out to a 16-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Shortly after that they increased the lead to double digits and it would never go back to single digits. They took a 34-19 lead into halftime and came away with a 64-49 victory.

Freshman Amanda Kitchen propelled the Skippers with a big game. She posted a game high 21 points on 8-15 shooting and a season high 17 rebounds to help get the job done. Karmyn Lowry scored 12 points while also bringing in 9 rebounds and Bailey Gormley also scored 12 points with 8 rebounds.

SC4 is now 21-2 on the season and 8-1 in conference play. This win moves them one step closer to claiming the MCCAA Eastern Conference title as they now sit alone at the top.

The Skippers will play host the Macomb Community College on Saturday at 1:00 PM. This game is a Pink Out for cancer awareness with the proceeds from the game being donated to cancer research.
