Women's Basketball: Skippers Down The Ocelots

Livonia, MI – The Skippers traveled down to Schoolcraft College for their regular season finale on Tuesday (Feb. 27) night.

After a slow first quarter from SC4 Schoolcraft jumped out to a 13-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Skippers would play the ocelots even I the second quarter to take a six-point deficit into the break. The SC4 offense finally got going in the 3rd quarter, scoring 21 points and finding themselves holding a one-point lead with 10 minutes left to play. The Skippers trailed by as much as five points in the fourth quarter but battled the score back to even with just over five minutes left. A back and forth final five minutes left the Skippers up 62-56 when the clock hit zero.

Even though it was a sluggish offensive effort the Skippers still managed to get four of five starters into double figures. Arlonna Twitty led the way scoring 16 points to pair with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Amanda Kitchen followed with a double-double, scoring 11 and bringing down 10 rebounds. Madelyn Smith and Bailey Gormley both scored 10 with Smith adding in an impressive 7 steals.

With this win SC4 will finish the regular season at 23-3 overall and 10-2 in the conference.
Their next game will be against Southwest Michigan College at Mott Community college in the Semi-Finals of the MCCAA State Championship. The game will be played at 5:30 PM. If they win that game they will play in the championship game on Saturday at 5:30 at Mott Community College.
