Women's Basketball: SC4 Advances to MCCAA Championship Game

Flint, MI – SC4 took on the Southwestern Michigan College Roadrunners in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Championship semi-finals on Friday (March 1). The tournament was hosted by Mid-Michigan College at Mott Community College.

The MCCAA tournament consists of the winner of the western, eastern, and northern conferences. The three schools play to determine the MCCAA Champion.

The game was back and forth the first quarter with the Skippers clinging to an 18-17 lead at the end of one. They would stretch their lead out with a 14-8 second quarter and take a seven-point lead into the break. A big third quarter in which Sc4 scored 25 points would give them a comfortable lead in the fourth where they would play even with the Roadrunners. At the end of the game the Skippers were victorious, 80-66.

SC4 was propelled by big games from Arlonna Twitty and Karmyn Lowry who both scored 20 points. Lowry also pulled own 12 rebounds for a double-double. Amanda Kitchen was a monster on the glass, grabbing a career high 22 rebounds while also scoring 11. Madelyn Smith scored 13 points and Bailey Gormley scored 12.

The Skippers will advance to the MCCAA Championship game where Mid-Michigan is waiting for them after a first round bye. The game will be played at Mott CC and will tip off at 5:30 PM.
