Women's Basketball: SC4 Downs the Jayhawks to Advance to the Championship

Flint, MI – The Skippers were on the campus of Mott Community College playing in the NJCAA Great Lakes District B semifinal game on Thursday (March 7) against the Muskegon Community College Jayhawks. The Skippers and Jayhawks met twice in the regular season as well with SC4 taking both contests.

Muskegon got a quick start in the game jumping out to a 14-9 first quarter lead. A big 24-point second quarter from the Skippers would pull them back in front, leading 33-27 at halftime. A back and forth third quarter would net the Skippers 4 points but keep it a close game heading into the final 10 minutes of the win or go home game. When the final horn sounded, SC4 was the team moving on, winning the game 66-54.

Freshman Bailey Gormley had a big game scoring 20 points on 6 made 3-pointers. She also added in 7 rebounds. Arlonna Twitty added in 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals to the Skipper's effort. Both Karmyn Lowry and Amanda Kitchen scored 10 points with 6 and 9 rebounds respectively. Madelyn Smith had a solid overall effort, scoring 7 with 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals and a block.

This win moves SC4 into the NJCAA Great Lakes District B championship game where they await the winner of Southwest Michigan College and Lakeland College.
