Dearborn, MI – The Skippers traveled to Henry Ford College to wrestle in the Whizzer Open on Sunday (Feb. 4).

The match was an open event with no team scores recorded. But it featured wrestlers from the host school Henry Ford College, Adrian College, Harper College (IL), Jamestown Community College, Mott Community College, Niagara Community College, Olivet College, Otterbein University, Siena Heights University, Triton College, Western Michigan University, and St. Clair County Community College.

The skippers had four wrestlers participate in the event with two of them placing. Sophomore Brendan Maybee finished second in the 149 lbs. weight class earning 13.5 team points. Fellow sophomore Ashton Light also finished second wrestling in the 184 lbs. weight class. He scored 9 team points.

The next time the Skippers will hit the mats to compete is at the Great Lakes District Wrestling Championship. The event will take place on Saturday, February 17 at Mott Community College.
