Team Effort in 3-2 Win Over the Red Hawks

The Skippers went into their home game on 9/17/2022 with a 1-3-1 record in the MCCAA and a 2-3-1 overall record and walked away with a 3-3-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the MCCAA. After a scoreless first half, the Skippers took control very early in the second half. Freshmen Madison Hall, from Port Huron Northern High School, scored the game's first goal 10 minutes into the second half. Following Madison's goal, Rylee Gurley scored with an assist from Hayley Dawson with 35:50 left in the game.  Hannah Schuchard scored the team's third goal of the day.

Lake Michigan wasn't giving up without a fight. The Red Hawks scored 2 goals at the end of the second half, but with a solid Skippers defense, the team could hold the Red Hawks at a 3-2 score. 

"It was great to see all the work the ladies have put in since August culminate in their first home win! With great effort, hard work, and a shared vision, they were able to defeat a talented and fast Lake Michigan team. A great team win and credit to every player on the team! Team above all," said Coach Stank.

The team will be back in action on Wednesday, September 21 at Muskegon Community College at Orchard View High School, the game is scheduled to kick off at 4:00 PM. The Skippers will not be at home again until Saturday, October 1 vs Kellogg Community College.
