Port Huron, MI -- The SC4 Skippers volleyball team hosted undefeated league opponent Macomb Community College tonight in a showdown at the SC4 Fieldhouse. Skippers came ready to work, and swept the Monarchs tonight in their MCCAA first round game. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: SC4 3, Macomb 0 (25-23, 25-8, 25-19)

Skippers started off set one with a 13-7 lead. The Monarchs made a run for it late in the set, but the Skippers held on to take set one and the momentum to run away with set two, 25-8. After the 3 minute break, the Monarchs came back hungry for a set three victory, but the Skippers rallied to the finish. 

Leading the Skippers were Christina Bohm (St. Clair, Mich./St. Clair) earning 10 kills and two blocks, Samantha Kent (St. Clair, Mich./St. Clair) with three blocks and two kills and 5 service aces, and Quinn Peterson (North Branch, Mich./North Branch) with 8 kills, one block and 11 digs. Miyana Dishroon (Woodhaven, Mich./Woodhaven) added seven kills and two blocks, while leading the defense with 13 digs. Joeleen Gaffney (Marysville, Mich./Marysville) dished out 11 assists and Dishroon put up 14.

On Thursday, the Skippers will travel to Dearborn, MI to take on the Hawks of Henry Ford College. The Skippers have seen Henry Ford once already this year, with a home sweep.
