Bohm Finishes Banner Year with First Team All-American Honors

SC4 Volleyball player Christina Bohm earns First Team All-American Honors

The National Junior College Athletic Association announced its 2022 Volleyball Divison II All-American Teams on Thursday. Christina Bohm earned First Team All-American honors for the first time in her career. This honor comes a few weeks after Bohm earned the Player of the Year award for the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Eastern Conference. It's no surprise that Bohm's being recognized for her hard work on the court as she earned MCCAA Eastern Conference player of the week an astounding three times this past season. Bohm was also honored with this award during her freshman season, totaling four conference player of the week honors for her career.

Bohm has been a dominant force for the Skippers ever since she put the uniform on last year. For the 2022 campaign, in 31 matches she tallied 387 kills, 317 digs, and 941 total attempts. The talented Bohm was all over the court as she also chipped in 31 aces to go along with 54 block assists. In 8 less matches than a year ago, she managed to increase her stats in almost every category. Most notably, going from 48 digs to 317 and going from three points per set to four and half points per set. The four and a half points per set was good enough for 20th in the NJCAA. Bohm was also in the top 20 for kills per set where her 3.87 kills per set ranked her 15th in the nation.

Bohm and her teammates won the school's first conference title in volleyball since 2015 as they earned a share of the MCCAA Eastern Conference. Her efforts also helped lead the Skippers to a runner-up finish in the NJCAA Region IX Volleyball District A Championship.

Bohm attributes her success to her coaches and teammates and the culture the program has instilled. "Coach McCulloch and the rest of the staff really have built a program that people want to be a part of. As a whole our teammates are very supportive of one another and have each other's backs." When asked to pick one memory that she'll cherish after her time at SC4 Bohm couldn't pick just one moment because the entire experience was special to her.

"Even when you're not the one scoring the point the excitement is the same as if you had because we all cared so much about each other." When asked what she would miss most about playing at SC4 Bohm had this to say, "The coaching staff and the athletic department. Everyone is very supportive and willing to go above and beyond to assist you. It doesn't even have to relate to athletics or school, they're here to help us. Which makes it a very easy environment to thrive in."
