Women's Cross Country Places 4th at Raiders Invite

The Skippers raced their way to school records and multiple personal records at the GRCC Raider XC Invite. This was the first conference meet of the season for both the men and the women. The women's field consisted of 13 scoring teams, with 10 being from MCCAA conference, while the men's field yielded 16 teams, with 13 being from the MCCAA Conference. The women placed 4th overall and 1st amongst the conference teams. The men placed 6th overall and 3rd amongst the conference teams. 

Leading the way for the women and breaking the SC4 school record was Jessica Denver, in a time of 20:09.2. Denver broke the school record by 3 seconds and placed 15th overall in a field of 111 runners. "The race felt tough but crossing the finish line was the most rewarding feeling. I feel very happy about getting a school record and I'm glad all my hard work paid off," Denver stated after the race. Running second for the Skippers was Grace Wessel in a time of 20:27.2. This ranks her 3rd on the SC4 All Time list. Mary Kaminski was the team's 3rd runner in 21:38.2, taking 10 seconds off her best time from last season. Elizabeth Sliman (21:42.8) and Beth Baldwin (22:33.9) rounded out the top 5, while Kayla McIntyre (23:08.1) ran her first race of the season after battling an injury.  

The Skippers return to action Saturday, September 23rd at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan University in Rochester, NY.
