SC4 Men’s Soccer Wins Northeast District Championship, Clinches First-Ever National Tournament Berth

Port Huron, Mich. — In a thrilling display of grit and determination, the St. Clair County Community College (SC4) men's soccer team captured the Northeast District Championship on home turf, defeating #2-ranked Mercer County Community College in a dramatic penalty shootout.

After a hard-fought match that ended 2-2 following two overtime periods, the Skippers prevailed 3-1 in penalty kicks, thanks to a heroic performance by goalkeeper Matias Rideau, who stopped three of the four shots he faced in the shootout to seal the victory.

SC4's goals came from Sailan Rabord, who converted a penalty kick in the first half, and Jules Dufour, who netted the equalizer in the 80th minute with a powerful header off a pinpoint corner from Javier Garcia Tunon Perez.

This win marks a historic milestone for SC4, as the program—in just its second season—has qualified for the NJCAA Division II National Championship Tournament for the first time in school history.

"This is a moment we'll never forget," said Head Coach Brian Aumbaugh. "To beat a nationally ranked team in front of our home crowd and earn a spot at nationals in our second year is a testament to the heart and talent of this group."

The Skippers will now prepare to compete on the national stage, with the tournament set to take place November 16-22 in Wichita, Kansas.
