Women’s Cross Country Continues to Break Records

Muskegon, MI - SC4 Women's Cross Country competed at the Jayhawk Invitational over the weekend. The event was hosted by Muskegon Community College on the Muskegon Community College Golf Course. The Skippers put on quite a show, placing 7th out of 16 teams, while beating NCAA DII team, Ferris State University. In doing so, several Skippers set personal records, while the school record was also broken.

Brynn Hurley was the top Skipper this weekend, taking 25th place overall and breaking the SC4 school record. Hurley's time of 19:18.7 beat the previous record by 22 seconds. Finishing close behind was Kate Bennett in a personal record time of 19:26.2. Bennett placed 31st overall and took 56 seconds off her previous record. Running third for the Skippers this week was Julia Rogers. Rogers ran a personal record time of 20:38.6, placing 70th overall and earning the #10 spot on the Skippers Top Ten list. Just seconds later, Rowan Conley finished in 72nd place with a time of 20:42.7. Conley's time is a personal record, besting her previous record by 5 seconds. Jenna Denver ran a season best of 22:04.5 as the Skipper's final scoring runner for the day. Also running season bests were Charlotte O'Brien and Angelina Ross in times of 22:22.6 and 23:14.9 respectively.

The achievements over the weekend continue to drive the Skippers as they prepare for the NJCAA Region XII and MCCAA Conference Championships on Friday, October 24th. Both Championships are held in conjunction with one another and will be hosted by SC4 on their home course located at Goodell's County Park. A home course advantage is another driving force for the Skippers as they strive to qualify for the NJCAA DII National Championship.
