For over 30 years Dale Vos has been at the center of SC4 Athletics. He became the head coach of the Skippers in 1990, inheriting a basketball team that had lost a national record of 68 games in a row. In his very first game against Jordan College, he led the team to a 100-97 victory. Under his guidance the Skippers became contenders on both the state and national level. In 2010, Vos captured the first NJCAA District title in school history and made the NJCAA National Tournament.

In 1994, Dale was named SC4 Athletic Director and spent three decades helping to grow the department from five sports to the 15 opportunities for students. As a basketball coach, Dale won over 500 games, two district championships, and made three NJCAA national tournaments. In addition, Vos is a two-time winner of both the BCAM Junior College Coach of the Year and the NJCAA District Coach of the Year, and a three-time winner of the MCCAA Eastern Conference Coach of the Year. His many accolades, strong leadership and friendly personality have earned him respect across the country, serving as the NJCAA Regional Director and the treasurer for the NCJAA Board of Regents.

“Dale Vos is someone who has dedicated his entire professional career to SC4 and serving others. He is an advocate for students who has positively changed the lives of many throughout his career,” said SC4 senior vice president Dr. Pete Lacey. “When I talk with people across the state and nation, they often know Dale and remark what a wonderful person he is. I am very proud to have worked alongside him. His leadership has given Skippers Athletics an excellent reputation and he’s built a positive future.”

For his efforts beyond the basketball court, Vos was inducted into the NJCAA Men’s Golf Coaches Hall of Fame after serving as chair for the NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf championship for twenty years. Dale was honored with the NJCAA Mary Ellen Leicht Service Award in 2016 and Loyalty Award in 2021.  In the MCCAA Vos was named the Athletic Director of the Year in 1997 and 2016.

Dale resides in Port Huron with his wife Beth and their three children Dane, Erin and Zoey.
