Kelsey Cox, a 6’ 1” middle hitter and MHSAA honorable mention All-State player from Flushing High School, only wore a Skippers uniform for one year, but she made the most of it. During the 2009 season she competed on the volleyball team that would finish the year with a record of 39-13. Cox capped off her successful campaign with a list of personal achievements. She was honored with the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Player of the Year award, NJCAA All-Region Team, and was named a NJCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-American.

When asked for her favorite memory as an athlete at SC4 Kelsey had this to say, “My favorite memory at SC4 was our team trip to Niagara Falls. This was my first time out of the U.S. and into Canada. It was such a fun trip and one I will never forget.”

The Flushing native wasn’t done performing after her time with the Skippers. She went on to earn a scholarship to Indiana Tech where her dominance on the volleyball court continued. During her junior year at Indiana Tech, the Warriors went undefeated in their conference and made it to the NAIA National Championships. During her senior season she posted 390 kills and led the squad with 104 total blocks. Cox finished her stellar playing career at Indiana Tech earning several honors including All-Conference, All-Region, and she was named honorable mention as part of the NAIA All-American team representing some of the best college volleyball players in the U.S.

Cox now resides in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and works as a Service Manager at Cintas First Aid and Safety.
