Gary Bowman was terrific on the course for the Skippers golf team.

During the spring of 1987, Bowman had a memorable freshman season at SC4, qualifying for the state tournament and playing his way onto the MCCAA All-state team. He also made his mark at the NJCAA Region 12 tournament, earning All-region honors. His stellar play on the links qualified him for the NJCAA National Golf Championship Tournament in Midland, Texas.

“Gary was a terrific golf talent and a great team player for us.” Said Ross Green, former SC4 golf coach and athletic director. “Every time he stepped on the course, he had a legitimate chance to go low and that showed during his impressive freshman year.”

Entering his sophomore year, Bowman left himself a tough act to follow. However, he continued to dominate on the golf course, once again qualifying for the state tournament and earning a spot on the MCCAA All-state team for the second straight year.

Bowman fondly recalled his playing days at SC4 sharing, “My family was very supportive of me during my time at SC4, my parents, Bill and Penny and my brothers Mike, Brian, and twin brother Cary.”

Following his time at SC4, Gary continued to play amateur golf, competing in local tournaments and qualifying for the Michigan Amateur tournament which includes the best golfers in the state.
