Heidi Highstreet was a key factor in the success of the SC4 Women’s Basketball teams for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The 5’11” star forward from Algonac averaged 12.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game her sophomore year at SC4. Her outstanding performance led to several post-season accolades as she was selected to the First Team All-Conference and named MVP of the NJCAA district tournament.

“Heidi was one of the toughest players I’ve ever had the privilege to coach,” said Skippers assistant coach Lucretia Bowerman. “That was the only way she knew how to play! She had the true desire and motivation to be successful on and off the court. She dedicated years of hard work and had an unmatched passion for the game. Heidi was an amazing player to watch. Her determination to be the best was infectious to players around her.”

Highstreet noted that the team success didn’t come without adversity. “During my first season at SC4 we had a coaching change mid-season, and we still ended up making the national tournament both years. We could have never accomplished that without Coach Groulx, he is hands down the best coach I’ve ever had. SC4 has given me some of the best memories of my life.”

Highstreet’s sophomore year saw the Skippers finish 4th in the nation. When asked for her greatest athletic achievement Heidi had this to share, “Getting a scholarship to play the game I love at a NCAA Division II school (Ferris State University) after two incredible seasons at SC4 and earning my degree as a Radiologic Technologist.”

Heidi now lives in California.
