Ken Campbell was a true ace on the mound during his two years with the Skippers. The hard throwing right hander was the type of guy college coaches dream about finding to lead a pitching staff every year.
Campbell dominated opposing hitters during his sophomore season in 1994 as he led the Skippers to the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) championship. That same season he earned both MCCAA All-conference and NJCAA All-region honors for his brilliance on the hill.
“One of the things I enjoyed most about my time at SC4 was being able to continue playing baseball with my high school friend and catcher, Jeff Mason.” Said Campbell on his opportunity to play baseball at SC4.
“Ken was very confident on the mound and was a true leader within his team at SC4. He had total respect from his opponents when having to face him,” said former SC4 baseball coach Rick Smith. He added “I have been in the game coaching at the college level for a long time and Ken is one of those starters that I hope to have on my staff each year! Congratulations Ken, you truly deserve to be in the Skippers Sports Hall of Fame!"
Following his playing career at SC4, Campbell earned a scholarship to play at the NCAA Division I level for the University of Dayton where he pitched for the Flyers during the 1995 and 1996 seasons. Campbell pursued a career in law enforcement after baseball, currently serving as Sergeant with the Michigan State Police.
Ken and his wife of over 22 years Katrina have 4 daughters together.
